English

FAQ

What SAT score do I need for AUB?

It depends on how you apply. Sophomore applicants (Lebanese Bac, French Bac, IB Diploma) have no published minimum: AUB compares your SAT superscore and Grade 10 and 11 averages with other applicants. Freshman applicants are accepted automatically with 950 and passed Grades 10 and 11.

What is the difference between Freshman and Sophomore?

A Sophomore skips the first year and starts directly in their major. A Freshman spends a first year in Arts and Sciences, then chooses a major. Your school program decides which one you are: Lebanese Bac, French Bac, IB Diploma and Technical Bac enter as Sophomore; American high school and O Levels enter as Freshman.

What is Early Admission?

AUB calls it Early Merit Admission. Apply by 31 October with high Grade 10 and 11 grades and the SAT score set for your major, and you get a decision by the end of December plus up to 30% off tuition. It counts for fall entry and your first-choice major in each faculty. If you miss the score, you move to regular admission automatically.

What if my SAT English is below 530?

You can still be admitted. Before mid-August, meet the English requirement with AUB-EN 32+, TOEFL iBT 4+ or IELTS Academic 6.0, or retake the SAT. Lower AUB-EN or TOEFL scores place you in intensive English, which you must pass within two terms.

What is the AUB-EN, or EEE?

AUB's own English Entrance Exam. It is paper based, costs $50, runs every month at AUB and is booked from your admissions portal. 32 to 39 places you in ENGL 102. 40 or more also lets you try the Writing Placement Test for ENGL 203.

Does AUB accept Duolingo?

No. AUB's approved English tests are the SAT English section, AUB-EN, TOEFL iBT and IELTS Academic.

Does AUB superscore the SAT?

Yes. AUB takes your highest Math and your highest English from different test dates, so send "All Scores".

Can I study medicine directly after school?

No. You finish a bachelor's degree in any major with the pre-med courses, take the MCAT, then apply to medical school.
